Special Delivery Promo Contest
In honor of Special Delivery’s release, I’m having a contest, but with a twist. The goal of the contest is promotion, and the prize is a $25 gift certificate to the bookstore of the winner’s choice.*
RULES:
- Anyone whose last name is not Cullinan or Hoerschelman or is related to me by blood or marriage can enter.
- You’ll need to be able to receive an e-certificate or Paypal payment.
- You may enter as many times as you like, but only once per type of entry per book. (That will make more sense in a second.)
- You must mail proof of all entries to heidi.cullinan@mac.com (A link will do.)
- The last entry must have an email stamp of no later than midnight CST February 28, 2010.
- The winner will be chosen by random drawing on March 1 and announced on my website and blog and twitter and FB.
- The winner will by announced by 8PM CST on March 1. Winner has 24 hours to accept prize or defaults, and prize will be redrawn.
- Winner will be notified by email.
METHOD OF ENTRY
On twitter:
Tweet something within 140 which includes my handle (@amazoniowan) and the title of one of my books, and a link to it at the DSP website. Example:
Check out the novel Special Delivery by @amazoniowan http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=1712
Except you’ll want to use a link shortening service like http://bit.ly/ on twitter.
You can double enter on twitter by tweeting about Special Delivery AND Hero, one reference in each tweet.
On Facebook:
Entry A: Same as twitter, except you can say more, especially if you’re read the book or something by me. Something to get your peeps to click and check me out. You’ll want to use the “link” tool on FB.
Entry B: Write a note on FB giving a review of one of my books or your opinion of me as a writer in general. Basically it’s like a blog post. Give the link to Dreamspinner and/or my website. This entry format is worth double entry points.
You can enter both ways on Facebook for the contest.
You can double-enter on FB by posting about Special Delivery AND Hero in two separate posts. (So that’s a total of four ways to enter on FB
There’s a small wrinkle in the proof for the FB contest: you’ll need to mark it visible to “everyone” or friend me long enough for me to see it. I’m listed as Heidi A Cullinan on FB. (There’s a fan page for Heidi Cullinan, but I don’t think I can see your entry if you do that.)
On your blog/Tumblr/some other social networking place with blog-like capabilites:
Same as entry B of Facebook. Write a review of one of my books or me in general. Give the link to Dreamspinner and/or my website. This entry format is worth double entry points. You may also repeat the process to include both books, which means the possible number or entries for this format is four.
Other entry options:
Give a review on Goodreads, Amazon, or basically anywhere people can buy the book or go to get reviews of books. This entry form is worth double entry points. Also, you may enter once in each type of place (Goodreads, Amazon, other review sites). You may also repeat the process to include both books, which means the possible number or entries for this format is four for each site.
As you can see, you could have many, many chances at entry. A sample by fictional contestant Bob:
-
Bob tweets on twitter about Hero.
-
Bob posts a news feed on FB.
-
Bob posts a note on FB. (worth x2)
-
Bob posts a review on his blog. (worth x2)
-
Bob posts a review on his Tumblr. (worth x2)
-
Bob posts a review on Amazon. (worth x2)
-
Bob posts a review on Goodreads. (worth x2)
-
Bob posts a review at All Romance Ebooks. (worth x2)
-
Bob posts a review at some shopping site I haven’t ever heard of but provides a link to. (worth x2)
Bob’s number of entries into the drawing: 16
Bob goes back and does the same thing for Special Delivery: 16
BOB’S TOTAL ENTRIES: 32
You can use the same review over and over again in all these places; the goal isn’t creativity half as much as it is blitzkrieg exposure. Your odds of winning increases with every effort you make, and so does my exposure. We both win.
OPTIONAL:
If you win and want to trade your prize for a signed paperback of either book, that’s totally cool. If you win and are local, you can get the signed paperback and a cup of coffee.
IMPORTANT:
All entries need to be sent to my email, which once again is heidi.cullinan@mac.com. You can lump them in to one email, obviously, or you can send them individually. I’ll keep them in a file and put each name in the appropriate number of times on March 1.
Any questions, email me at heidi.cullinan@mac.com. Best of luck!
